[Video] Monica, Brandy, Cissy Houston & Chaka Khan Perform Whitney Houston Tribute At BET Awards 2012

The BET Awards took place last night at California’s Shrine Auditorium and in case you missed it, there was not a dry eye in the house after a very touching tribute to Whitney Houston. The segment was introuduced by Mariah Carey, who shared some of her fondest memories of Whitney Houston by saying:

“We got to spend a lot of time together as we promoted it, and we really got to know each other as people, not divas,” she said, noting that Houston was “a hilarious person, with a cutting sense of humor. She was real and kept it real, and that’s why we got along so well. If you really knew Whitney, you couldn’t help but love her…I miss my friend, and I miss hearing her voice and laughter, but we’ll always have the music.”

Monica then took the stage to perform a track from “The Preacher’s Wife” soundtrack album entitled, “I Love The Lord.” Brandy followed with two of Whitney’s biggest hits, “I’m Your Baby Tonight” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”. Whitney’s brother, Gary Houston, dedicated a song to his sister and their mother, Cissy Houston took the stage for a moving performance of “Bridge Over Trouble Water.” Chaka Khan closed the tribute by performing a song that she and Whitney both made a chart topper, “I’m Every Woman.”
