#1. It’s Never Too Late To Find Your Passion
“Basically it all started with me just trying to find my passion and initially I thought my passion was in Law. I was an intern at law firms. I interned at Capital Hill. After a couple of years, I just realized that there was something missing. A common thread
through my entire life has been that I really had an affinity towards products. I would always look at things and think, “How could I make this better?”
“I was going to law school and I dropped out because I knew I wanted to do design. I hooked up with a good friend of mine who taught me the ropes. He hooked me up with an internship at a sneaker company, Creative Recreations. After working at Creative Recreations, I was really inspired to create a stiletto line. At first I would sketch all of my designs, but I got really frustrated with the whole manufacturing process so I just got up and I went to Hong Kong. I spent 3 months in Hong Kong finding a manufacturer and after I created my first line, I came back to California and the line just exploded.”
#2. You Don’t Have To Know Everything
“Every 3 months I spent about two weeks to just design. That was probably the only time that I designed. Another two weeks was spent searching for materials. I’d go into the markets and source whatever I thought was fresh. I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but if it spoke to me then I pulled it. Then I’d come back to my office play with it.”
#3. Life is Simple. Don’t Complicate It.
“You really have 2 choices when it comes to everything. It’s either you’re going to choose to create or you’re going to choose to go towards your history. That’s really the major decision that you have to make. Are you going to do what your parents did? Are you going to do what everybody else is telling you that you should do because that’s what everybody else has done? Or are you going to create who you are? Are you going to create why you’re here and what you’re specifically here to do?”
#4. Make God Your Business Partner
“I know God is a tricky word for some people. It’s the Universe. The Great Creator.Whatever it is, as soon as I enlisted that higher power into my life, I was like “you’re going to be my business partner. I got this part down, but you’re going to help me on all these other parts.”
#5. You Owe It To The World To Be Yourself
“Everybody’s an unique individual and obviously when you’re creating a new position in the world you’re going to go up against inertia. That’s inevitiable. If you really think this is your path and this is your calling then you need to move in that direction regardless of what anybody tells you. A lot of times it’s the people that are closest to you that are going to discourage
you from doing it. You know my family was like “Why are you leaving this position as a lawyer. You were on Capital Hill and you were doing all this to leave and go do fashion?”
I’m actually doing all of the things that I wanted to do with Law through my fashion. I get to connect with women on a daily basis and I get to inspire them to do what they love to do. The only way you can be of service to the world is by being yourself.”

Extremely inspiring and motivating. Finding our passion has to be our focus besides that of finding our Creator, God, Ultimate being (whatever), find it and grow, go and walk in our purpose! I applaud you Young Lady…appreciate your testimony! Erma
